Overview

Partners with Haiti

Partners with Haiti is a registered non-profit corporation working as a ministry of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since our establishment in 1999, we’ve been dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities served by St. Paul’s twin parish, St. Isidore’s, on the island of Lagonav, Haiti.

Community Health Facilities

We proudly provide full support for a walk-in clinic, a school infirmary
and a mother’s health network, all serving essential healthcare needs.

PWH is a proud member of The Parish Twinning Program of the Americas, the largest international “church-to-church” organization in the United States.
PWH is very fortunate to be a Grant Partner of Allegeny Franciscan Ministries, whose financial support has been a major enabler of our work.

Our History

Partners with Haiti has been dedicated to fostering relationships and impactful change in Haiti since 1999. From our founding as a ministry of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, to our medical/dental missions, our new health clinic, our education initiatives, and much more, our journey reflects a commitment to hope, resilience, and partnership. Here are some of the milestones that have shaped our story and continue to inspire our mission.

Our Team

President

Jim Stitt

Jim and his wife, Loretta, first traveled to Haiti in 1999. He has been an active member of PWH since its founding, and its President since 2008.

Jim and his wife, Loretta, first traveled to Haiti in 1999. He has been an active member of PWH since its founding, and its President since 2008. He has been to Haiti many times and in 2010 helped establish a full-time clinic in a remote region of La Gonave. He is retired from a 35 year career with Duke Energy in various management and executive positions. He holds engineering and management degrees. Loretta and Jim have three grown children and five grandchildren. They are active members of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. From 2002 to 2003 they hosted two teenage medical patients from Haiti.
Ministry Coordinator

Lou Pekrul

Lou first traveled to Haiti with his wife, Peggy, in 2002. After that trip he took on the responsibility of ministry coordinator for PWH.

Now retired from a a 44-year teaching career, his work with the ministry focuses on recruitment and on improving the educational opportunities for students at our twin parish schools. He has lead multiple mission trips to Haiti.
Treasurer

David Brett

David Brett holds a bachelor’s in accounting (FSU) and an MBA from USF. A Senior Manager at CBIZ, he provides exceptional client service and strategic planning expertise. He joined Partners with Haiti in 2022 and is dedicated to supporting its mission.

Hello, my name is David Brett. I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting from FSU and later completed an MBA at USF. With a strong background in accounting and business administration, I’ve developed a comprehensive skill set in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.

As a Senior Manager (CPA) at CBIZ, a public accounting firm, I’m dedicated to providing exceptional service to clients while also fostering professional growth within my field.

I’m happily married with two children, and quality time with family is very important to me. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf, engaging in outdoor activities, and exploring new places with my family.

Since 2022, I’ve been an active member of Partners with Haiti, an organization committed to supporting St. Isidore in Haiti. I am deeply inspired by the organization’s mission and its potential to transform lives and foster long-term growth. It is a privilege to contribute my expertise to help the organization achieve its goals and make a meaningful impact.

Mark Morris, MD

Retired pediatrician, graduate of Carleton College, Emory University Medical School, and Albert Einstein School of Medicine

  • Former Chief of Staff at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg
  • Over 25 trips to Lagonav on medical missions and for clinic/infirmary work
  • Volunteer at Judeo Christian Health Clinic in Tampa
Communications Lead

Casey Jorgensen

Casey joined the PWH Board in 2024, contributing to branding and marketing initiatives. She is deeply tied to the St. Paul Catholic community.

Casey Jorgensen is a consultant in the wealth management industry and a dedicated community advocate. As Head of the Dynasty Institute for Adaptive Leadership (DIAL) and Senior Vice President of Relationship Management at Dynasty Financial Partners, Casey harnesses her expertise to empower financial advisors to be entrepreneurs.

In 2024, Casey joined the Partners With Haiti Board, where she plays a role in enhancing the organization’s branding and marketing initiatives. Her commitment to service is rooted in her deep ties to the St. Paul Catholic community, being an active parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church and an alumna of St. Paul Catholic School, where she attended for ten years from Pre-K through eighth grade, graduating in 2006.

Outside of her professional and volunteer endeavors, Casey cherishes spending quality time with her husband, Grady, and her daughter, Shay, who is currently enrolled at St. Paul’s Children’s Center. Her personal and professional life reflects her commitment to leadership, community, and family.

Anne Richter

Having been able to participate with the Haiti ministry these past 25 years has brought me much joy and purpose. The warmth and strength of Haitian women has always inspired my. In the past I have worked in a variety of maternal and child health programs in Africa, Asia, and the U.S., as a public health nurse-midwife. It has been a great journey.

Mary-Jane Smith

Mary-Jane has been a key team member for over twenty-three years. She is retired after thirty years in the Financial and Insurance industry in a number of management positions. The kindness of the Haitian people in spite of the country's crushing poverty inspires her work with PWH.

Melanie Hevron

Melanie is a new member to the Partners with Haiti family, joining in Summer 2024. While she has never personally visited Haiti, her love for helping those in third-world countries inspired her to help where possible. She is married with two children.

Michael Konczal

Michael is the retired owner of a marine equipment business. He joined PWH 2012 after reading in the church bulletin the ministry was looking for someone who could take a corn grinder to Haiti and train the people on its operation and maintenance.

After his initial trip, he stayed on to help with follow-up maintenance on the grinder and was subsequently appointed to lead agriculture and clean water projects.One of his favorite memories of Haiti is of quiet star-lit nights with good friends outside the minstry's mountain clinic.

Chris Boyd

Chris is a finance professional working in the Veterinary industry. He holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Floirda and a Masters from the University of Tampa.

Working at BluePearl Chris partners with a network of over 100 locations nationwide to budget, forecast, and provide financial insights to allow our team of Vets perform life saving care. He joined Partners with Hati in 2024 and is a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church with his wife Megan and daughter Charley.

Rebecca Westfall

Rebecca has been part of the PWH team since 2021. She contributes primarily in social media, graphics and marketing.

Since retiring from the Army as a nurse, she shifted gears and went back to college to get a Computer Graphics degree. Since then, she has worked in Public Affairs in civil service and has a design business on the side where she applies her skills towards the PWH mission

Joe Divito is a shareholder in the law firm of DiVito, Higham & Vasti, P.A., in St. Petersburg, Florida. He holds a Bachelors degree from Spring Hill College, and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University.

His practice specialties include representation of non-profit organizations, and his firm serves as general council for the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg. He has been named to “Who’s Who in American Law and has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay’s Top Lawyers. He is active in St. Paul Catholic Church, and serves as a board member and corporate secretary for Partners with Haiti.
